PsVita UMD's?
Don’t toss the UMD games you bought for your PSP, as Sony has announced plans to allow Vita owners to download copies of their previously purchased games. Sony development chief Yoshio Matsumoto suggested that the games could be downloaded for a “special price.”
Currently, a number of PSP games are already available for download, since that’s how the discontinued PSP Go was set to function. Presumably, the market of games would expand to properly utilize this program, but details have yet to be released.
As for pricing, Sony was unable to comment directly on pricing, since they haven’t officially announced the plan outside Japan.
News site Geek.com has a rather convincing theory, suggesting that Sony may have a physical trade-in plan involving swapping UMDs for virtual ones. This assumption based on the fact that Sony chose to tell retailers first at the Sony sales briefing in Japan. Do note, that this is just a theory, albeit a very likely one.
In addition to the availability, it was previously announced PS Vita users should be able to connect and play with original PSP players without issue, according to Eurogamer.
Once Sony announces the plan to the world, we’ll have more details regarding how PS Vita users will be able to play classic PSP games.
What I really want to know though is if all the games for the Vita will be all downloadable and not physical, because the games are going to be about at least 6GB, that's about an entire memory stick.
